Supporting children's "challenges"! Mountain bike race competition

As part of Toyama City's initiative to promote and popularize urban sports, the "MTB Challenge 2026 Toyama Stage" mountain bike race will be held on Sunday, July 5th at the NiX Sports Academy Cycle Park (mountain bike course in the plaza surrounding the Kubusugawa Dam in Toyama City).
This event is a mountain bike race organized and operated JPF Co., Ltd. (main office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Shuntaro Watanabe) under contract from Toyama City.

"MTB Challenge" is a participatory event held with the aim of introducing children to the joy of taking on challenges with bicycles.

Primarily aimed at elementary school students, this event provides an opportunity for them to try mountain bike racing for the first time. Practical lessons by former professional riders are also offered to ensure that even those with no racing experience can participate with confidence. We strive to create an event where children and their parents, who may feel anxious about racing despite their love for cycling, can participate with peace of mind, while prioritizing safety and allowing them to experience the joy of challenge. The race program includes two types of races: "Kids Race" and "Endurance Race." Participants of all skill levels and abilities, from beginners to experienced riders, can participate according to their fitness level.

This project is made possible by a grant from the Japan Sports Safety Association's Sports Activity Promotion and Encouragement Grant Program.

 [Event Program Overview]
● Kids Race (for elementary school students)
The race will be held on a specially designed course, with the number of laps adjusted according to age. The difficulty level is such that even first-timers can complete the race, allowing participants to enjoy the racing experience.

● Endurance race (open to all ages)
This is an endurance race format where participants compete to complete the most laps in 60 or 90 minutes. Individuals, teams, parent-child entries, and adult-only entries are all welcome! It's a race where everyone, from children to adults, can enjoy the fun of mountain biking together. Participation with e-bikes is also possible, but please note that these will only be considered as reference records.

● Course strategy lesson (free)
A former professional rider will provide direct instruction on "safe riding methods" and "tips for riding" using an actual race course. Beginners and first-time participants can confidently take on the challenge of racing. This session will be held on the morning of the competition.
